Jewelry Care

Now that you have your favorite piece of Silver Prophecy Jewelry, let's talk about how to care for it! Silver is an investment and with proper care, will stay bright and shiny for years to come. Below I have some tips to help with daily care and cleaning.

Jewelry Care Tips:

  • Store jewelry in a cool and dry place when not wearing it (Such as a pouch, bag, or box stored in a place like your bedroom or closet)
  • Avoid contact with lotions and perfumes (Put these things on first and allow to dry before your jewelry, this also includes sunscreen)
  • Remove jewelry before exercise or activity that causes sweat (Happy silver is dry silver)
  • Remove before entering water for long periods (Especially bodies of water like the ocean or a hot tub that contains high levels of salt or chemicals)
  • Wear your jewelry

Happy silver is dry silver. When your silver jewelry is not in use, it's best to keep it in a container (such as a jewelry box or pouch) or wrapped in a cloth. This helps reduce the airflow reaching the silver. Another useful tip is to not keep your silver jewelry in your bathroom. This is the one room that will definitely create a humid environment that is not good for silver. If you can, keep your silver jewelry outside of your bathroom such as in your bedroom or closet. Sweat, perfume, moisturizers, and other daily uses can add some unwanted grime to your jewelry.

General Cleaning

Please note that cleaning and polishing are not the same thing. You need to clean your piece before you polish. Cleaning will remove build up dirt and grime. Polish is taking the silver from dull to bright. Polishing typically removes tarnish which cannot always be removed with just a simple clean.

With this day-to-day build-up, a simple wipe with a soft or microfiber cloth should do the trick. If you need a little more cleaning power, hot soapy water (I like to use Dawn in water that is hot enough to handle but not boiling) will also help with the daily dirt. If you need some help getting into any tiny crevices, you can use a soft toothbrush. Just remember to thoroughly dry your jewelry after cleaning with a microfiber cloth. Do not use paper towels to clean or dry your jewelry as they can be too harsh.
